Terry MeerTerry Meer has spent his life searching for ways to increase sustainability in the community. He was born on a sailboat in Miami, Florida, in 1974. Growing up on boats he learned the limits of our valuable resources. After sailing around the Florida Keys, his family moved to Melbourne, Florida, in 1989, where Terry began studying alternative energies and sustainability. Terry moved to Hawaii in 2006 where he continued to study solar and alternative energy on the environmentally advanced island. Terry and his wife Tia moved back to Orlando to construct a sustainable log cabin on five acres near the Econlockhatchee River (the Econ Farm). The project includes rain water catchments, solar power, organic gardens, mushroom logs, composting, and fruit orchards. The house is designed to model the technologies available today to decrease our dependency on oil and increase personal production of food and energy. Terry teaches workshops on Beermaking, Solar Power, How to Make a Rain Barrel, and Green Building with Simple Living Institute. |
