"Our-Lando 2005": Saturday, Oct 15th, 2005

2005 Our-Lando Flyer Come join us for an evening of music, art, and community during Simple Living's Fourth Annual Benefit Concert: "Our-Lando 2005". Featuring nine vendors, seven artists, four bands, three demonstrations, two raffles*, one bake sale, one plant exchange and much, much more!

Where: The Alleyway at Downtown Media Arts Center (DMAC),
39 S Magnolia Ave, Orlando, FL 32801. Map it!
When: Saturday, October 15, 2005; 6 pm to 11 pm.
Cost: $5 per adult, $1 per child (age 2-12)

2005 Band Lineup

Nature's Rhythm - Siblings Tia and Randy Silvasy perform acoustic earth-inspired originals with soundscapes from the river, ocean, and mountains.
Mobius - Born from the ashes of former local jam bands 5day4cast and Goldminers, this project plays original groove rock.
Omiza River - Om is a river flowing through humanity. As it is with the universe, so it is with music. Inspiring lyrics and tight harmonies keep the message pure. Acoustic sounds keep us honest. This original, five-piece band includes guitar, fiddle, hand percussion and three-part harmonies. Learn more about Omiza at Omiza's home on the web.
Hakim Tafari - A fusion of hip-hop, roots reggae, and nu jazz rolled into one. Intergalactic "roots hop" bringing spiritual alchemy into musical word sound and power. During his set for the benefit concert, Hakim will be joined by female vocalist Soni and DJ Jaydye. Learn more about Hakim at his Nonsense Records artist page.

2005 Demonstrations

Capoeira Brazilian Pelourinho AcademySatjit Kaur and Amber Melendy, both local yoga instructors and Simple Livers, will guide the group in calming Kundalini and Ashtanga yoga breathing techniques and explore the ways your body breathes.
•The Capoeira Brazilian Pelourinho Academy will be demonstrating capoeira, a style of Afro-Brazilian martial art. The demonstration will showcase the music, percussive instruments, gymnastic, aerobatic, and martial movements of capoeira in a circular game.
Drumming Demonstration - Greywolf and Bhrigha, along with student members of the award-winning Shredd! Ensemble (which won Patron's Pick for "The Extraordinary Fila" in the 2005 Orlando International Fringe Festival), will demonstrate Worldbeat Drum and Dance Fusion. Be prepared for a high-energy, interactive presentation from this local couple who teach fusion-style Percussion and Bellydance!
